Tickets for Tea with … Jae Maries have arrived!

bertTickets have arrived for the afternoon tea and lecture by Jae Maries. This is ‘Bert’ made by Jae and bought by me several years ago when she had an exhibition at the Knitting and Stitching Show. I love him to bits and he has travelled to three different houses with me now. He is for ever walking through the wall at the top of my stairs. Her work has taken a slightly different direction now with some very personal diary related pieces and I am looking forward to seeing it all ‘up close and personal’        Jae is delightful and until recently was chairman of the 62 group. I hope you will support this event which this year is staged by a brand new textile group called Room 6 and are made up from tutors and past graduates who worked in Room 6 at the Cranbury Road annexe of Eastleigh College. this is the first event of several involving this exciting new group of artists.

If you would like tickets for this event, please contact me either at susichap@hotmail.co.uk or by phone at 01962 777480 and I will, on receipt of payment, put the tickets for you to collect at the door unless I see you prior to the event… details of the event as follows

Good News and Bad News – ‘Tea With…’

Hi Everyone.. I have mixed feelings as I write this entry in my blog …. Unfortunately I have heard from Rozanne Hawksley and she has told me that she has found out that she needs a hip replacement imminently and also that she has to have eye surgery with more follow up treatment . So, she has to withdraw from coming to talk to us in the third of the ‘Tea With’ series of lectures. I am so sorry that she has had to cancel, but eternally grateful to her for letting us know early enough for us to re-arrange the day. I am about to write to her with the good news that someone has stepped into the breach so that she doesn’t feel too bad! We wish her well with the surgeries and for a speedy recovery.

The good news however is that Jae Maries has agreed to come and give the third lecture in the series. Until recently she has been chair of the 62 group and creates the most wonderful large scale works of which I am the proud possessor of one, Bert hangs at the top of my stairs and will eternally be walking away from me through the wall..

This is a quote taken from Jae’s website..

‘Jae Maries’ themes often revolve around figures in an environment. She uses her thumbnail sketches as inspiration which she then develops into life-size wall-hung textile pieces. She works in a variety of media and enjoys the challenge of combining textured stitches surfaces with oil-painted fabric panels. Jae’s current work is developing a daily visual diary. This is a new direction for her and she is curious to see where it leads.’

I am sure that we will all have a lovely afternoon with Jae.. watch this space and I will post the flyer and let you know when the tickets are avilable …but for now, save the date, Sat 13th June at Lower Upham Village Hall… this is on the main road between Fishers Pond and Bishop’s Waltham outside Winchester, opposite the Alma Public House
