its the end of the easter break from teaching, just finished all the preparation for the coming term, lots of fun and games planned. i have a recreational class starting mondays where we are going to look at the construction of a variety of bags and containers, we usually work on small projects in the summer term because hopefully the good weather means that the students spend more time outdoors in the garden and on away breaks.
on tuesdays i teach city and guilds patchwork and quilting, level 3 in the morning and level 2 in the afternoon. next year level 1 will be taught on tuesday evening, and level 3 in the afternoon.
on wednesdays i teach the foundation degree which is described to the right and
on fridays its the contemporary textile workshop for those who have completed their level 3 studies but dont want the rigour of the foundation degree
the exhibition of historic and contemporary quilts opened today at Eastleigh Museum and will run until 15th May. the historic quilts come from Hampshire museums collection and the contemporary quilts have been provided by me, hilary marshall, as well as lyn onions and joyce talbot who are both my students
The Cranbury Centre at Eastleigh college will be holding its ‘Creative Techniques Open Event’ on Thurs eve 1st July, Friday 10.00-15.00 2nd July and Saturday 10.00-13.00 3rd July 2010, where all the students from the listed courses will exhibit their years work. The tutors will also be interviewing prospective students for the Foundation Degree (FdA) in stitched textiles new cohort, beginning October 2010. For application pack, please contact:

Information for my students .. I have set up a coach trip to visit the ‘Quilts’ exhibition at the V and A museum . it will leave the Cranbury Centre, Eastleigh College at 8.15 on Tuesday 18th May. We have timed entries and will leave London at 4.30. the cost, to include coach and entry ticket, will be £22 and £20.20 for concessions. the Cranbury Centre is taking bookings for the coach
the new V and A exhibition ‘Quilts’ opens this week, and its promising to be a blockbuster! 65 quilts on show from the collections of the V and A as well as from around the world …. and .. several contemporary makers to complement these treasures. among them Grayson Perry and Tracey Emin, but also Clio Padovani with her video installation, Diana Harrison with a new piece, also Pauline Burbidge and Jo Budd
