Speak soon! xx
It looks wonderful … a huge thank you to my wonderful graduates who have made the most fabulous work and hung it in the Abbey today. I am , of course biassed … but I think the Abbey looks pretty fantastic …. thanks to the verger and his ‘mate’ all the arches have been filled with a variety of pieces, and wherever you look there are intriguing pieces and surprises around every corner… it is just as I had hoped and planned for many months ago … my own piece ‘Communion’ is safely installed in St. Lawrences Chapel
these are two pieces to whet your appetite, my own, and the wonderful mediaeval lady from Sue Fish who frightened the life out of the organist when he came in to practice this evening! no other images at the moment because I havent had permission from anyone else yet …. SO.. come and see for yourselves … opening is at 6pm in the Abbey tomorrow Tuesday 29th Sept …. and it is open until Nov 1st
Hilary Marshall and I have a partner exhibition at Rum’s Eg in Bell street Romsey , just around the corner with a super cafe upstairs
Well Ste Marie Aux Mines was wonderful. Very few brits make it over to see the four day festival which is a big shame ….
there are four villages involved each with several exhibitions and shuttle buses running backwards and forwards up and down the valley all day every day …. well worth a trip …
ANYWAY… next indeed, I have just finished stitching for the next exhibition which will be set up in Romsey Abbey on Monday ..the PV is 6pm on Tuesday 29th Sept in Romsey Abbey if you are nearby, but if not, exhibition is open until the end of October. I would show you some images and the flyer but at the moment I can’t upload them, no idea why, so, you will just have to visit the exhibition!
i have several exhibitions to work towards this year, so , i am going to try to relate my process here as i struggle to complete an estimated 50 pieces of work this year… got to be really disciplined! ….there won’t be many pics because if I show the pieces here i wont be able to enter them for the exhibitions!
i have a two man show in Rum’s Eg a gallery in Romsey for the whole of September and October with Hilary Marshall….
and am part of a huge exhibition in Romsey Abbey for the whole of October! my Graduates, Hilary, and I are aiming to fill the abbey! will give details of dates etc when the leaflets are printed… but .. what am I going to do????
Well, i have decided to create a free standing installation possibly for or around St Nicholas’s chapel in the Abbey …the work for Rum’s Eg will grow from the sketchbook i am creating for the imagery…
have worked out the structures and my lovely friend Andy from the village has built me a prototype frame for me to start on the textiles side of things, then he will make up the rest of the structures for me … what a star!
I am really excited about this new body of work… going to use Leslie Morgan’s studio at the end os January where I will have several benches and hope to print all 40 panels destined for the Abbey
Busy drawing and painting into a sketchbook to focus my thoughts ,.. this is my process ….
work gets in the way of course and the sorting of the Granary Studio ready to start some workshops from easter onwards… i definitely need two more life times!
Check back, i will report on my progress!
